Science indicates that Ivermectin is extremely safe to use with rats. Since it is natural. And it is very, very easy to use. With parasites results are normally visible in as little as 6 hours. It can be used to kill both internal and external parasites, such as mites, pinworms, lice which are the most common in rats and many more. We have been using it at our rattery since the 1st year we started breeding. And we have used it every 6 months on our entire colony since then as a preventative. Dosage is a dab the size of a grain of rice, once per week for 3-6 weeks using 1.87% paste/gel. I have used regular and apple.

Ivermectin is also used to treat respiratory infections in rats. And can quickly kill of a large portion of bio-load of a respiratory virus in rats in 24 hours. Depending on the type of virus. Some corona viruses fall under this category. It acts as an antiviral for some respiratory viruses in rats.

Ivermectin is also been seen to treat cancer in rats and mice.

Disclaimer. Although we have seen good results with Ivermectin, we still maintain that if your rat is sick take it to a vet. If lightly showing signs of a resp virus maybe this will work for you. But we do not recommend replacing a vet with Ivermectin especially with people who are not as well versed in rats.
